Once a Dream, Now Real: Why I Started NOTETYPE
A note from our founder on the first page ever written in NOTETYPE, and why a few honest words about what you're grateful for can turn into something real.
The first page ever written in NOTETYPE was mine. It said two things:
Grateful for air.
Grateful I once had some dreams that are a reality now.
It wasn’t fancy. It was late, I was tired, and those were the only two true things I could think of. But when I read them back, something shifted. The first line reminded me that the simplest things are gifts. The second reminded me how far I’d already come.

Dreams start as a thought
Every real thing I’ve ever made started as a thought I almost didn’t write down. An idea on the walk home. A “what if” in the shower. A note on my phone I nearly deleted.
Most of those thoughts disappear. Not because they were bad, but because nobody held on to them. That’s what NOTETYPE is for. It’s a place to catch a thought before it slips away, and to see it come alive on the page.
That’s where our line comes from: Your thought, made real.
Why gratitude, and why a journal
I’m not a scientist, so I asked the research. You can read all of it on this blog. In short, people who regularly write down what they’re grateful for tend to feel a bit better about their lives. It doesn’t fix everything. It won’t make a hard week easy. But it helps you notice the good things that were there all along, including the dreams that already came true and you forgot to celebrate.
I wanted that habit to feel less like homework and more like joy. So in NOTETYPE, when you write a thought and press “Make it real,” little doodles bloom around your words. Draw a heart and it becomes a heart. Your pages are private and stay on your own device. And you can look back on any day to see what you wrote and how you felt.
Who it’s for
Everyone. Quiet people who think best alone at night. Outgoing people who want to share a good moment with a friend. Men and women, young and old, from every corner of the world. If you have a thought, it’s for you.
My hope for you
I hope you write one small thing tonight. Maybe it’s air. Maybe it’s a friend, a cup of coffee, or a dream that used to feel impossible.
Then one day, I hope you flip back and find a page where you wrote a dream down, and realize it’s real now.
That’s what happened to me.
With gratitude,
Ck Founder, NOTETYPE
